Hire a gardener or landscaper
Lawns, hedges, garden clean-ups, planting and landscaping. Describe the garden once and verified local gardeners and landscapers can answer.
Garden jobs range from a one-off tidy to a new landscape, and the price depends mostly on how much there is and what happens to the green waste afterwards.
Photos from a few angles tell a gardener more than any description, so add them to the post.
What gardeners and landscapers on Taskovery do
- Lawn mowing and edging, one off or regular
- Hedge trimming and pruning

What to put in your job post

- Roughly how big it is, and what needs doing
- Whether you want the green waste taken away
- Access: side gates, steps, and where a trailer can park
- One off, or regular visits
License rules and checks, by country
Most garden work is unlicensed, but some parts of it are not.
- Trees: Felling or major pruning of large trees, especially near power lines, is specialist work. Use a qualified arborist, and check whether your council or city protects the tree before anyone cuts it.
- Spraying: Commercial weed and pest spraying often needs a pesticide or chemical license, depending on where you live.
- Landscaping: Some US states license landscape contractors, and retaining walls above a certain height can need a permit or consent in several countries. Ask your council or building department if in doubt.
Whatever the rules, look the number up yourself on the regulator’s own site rather than following a link the contractor sends. How to check a license and insurance walks through it.
How pricing works
Gardeners charge by the hour, by the visit, or a fixed price for a clean-up. Green waste disposal is often charged separately, so ask whether it is included.
Regular visits usually cost less per visit than a one off, because a kept garden is quicker to keep.
How it works on Taskovery
- Post the job for free. Say what needs doing, where, and when. Photos help more than anything else.
- Hear from verified contractors. Only contractors whose checks have passed can answer: a government photo ID, plus a business registration for a company or a proof of address for a sole trader. It is not a criminal background check and we do not check insurance, so ask for those yourself when the job calls for them.
- Choose who does it. Compare replies, profiles and past work, and pick the person you want.
- Pay them directly. You agree the price with the contractor and pay them, not us. Customers never pay Taskovery anything.

Questions
Questions people ask about hiring a gardener
Do gardeners take the green waste away?
Many do, often for an extra charge, and some expect you to use your own bin. Say what you want in the post so it is in the price.
One off or regular?
A one off clean-up suits a garden that has got away from you. Regular visits keep it there and usually cost less each time.
Can a gardener cut down a tree?
Small trees and shrubs, often yes. Large trees, trees near buildings or power lines, and protected trees need a qualified arborist and sometimes council permission.
