Hire a house cleaner
Regular cleans, deep cleans and move out cleans. Describe your home and what you want done, and verified local cleaners can answer.
Most disappointing cleans come down to something that was never agreed: the inside of the oven, the shower screen, the balcony door tracks. The fix is a written list before the first visit, and a posted job is a good place to write it.
Cleaners who answer on Taskovery see the rooms, the kind of clean and the extras you want, so the replies you get are for your actual home.
What cleaners on Taskovery do
- Regular weekly or fortnightly cleans
- Deep cleans: inside appliances, limescale, skirting, light fittings
- Move out and end of tenancy cleans
- After-builders cleans
- Inside windows, ovens and refrigerators, as extras
What to put in your job post
- The number of bedrooms and bathrooms, or the floor area
- The kind of clean: regular, deep, move out or after-builders
- The extras you want, such as the oven, the refrigerator or inside windows
- How often: one off, weekly or fortnightly
- Pets, allergies, and whether you want unscented products
License rules and checks, by country
Cleaning is not a licensed trade in the six countries Taskovery covers, although a cleaning business may need an ordinary business license or registration where it works.
- Everywhere: Because there is no trade license to check, the other checks matter more: insurance for damage in your home, a written list of what is included, and clear arrangements for keys and access.
- Move out cleans: Your lease and your landlord’s checklist decide what counts, so give the cleaner that document rather than a general idea of clean.
Whatever the rules, look the number up yourself on the regulator’s own site rather than following a link the contractor sends. How to check a license and insurance walks through it.
How pricing works
Cleaners charge by the hour, by the visit once they know the home, or a fixed price for a move out clean. Regular visits usually cost less per visit than one offs, and a first deep clean often costs two or three times a regular visit.
Our guide to hiring a cleaner for an apartment has published hourly rates for the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
How it works on Taskovery
- Post the job for free. Say what needs doing, where, and when. Photos help more than anything else.
- Hear from verified contractors. Only contractors whose checks have passed can answer: a government photo ID, plus a business registration for a company or a proof of address for a sole trader. It is not a criminal background check and we do not check insurance, so ask for those yourself when the job calls for them.
- Choose who does it. Compare replies, profiles and past work, and pick the person you want.
- Pay them directly. You agree the price with the contractor and pay them, not us. Customers never pay Taskovery anything.

Questions
Questions people ask about hiring a cleaner
How much does a house cleaner cost?
It depends on the country, the size of the home and the kind of clean. Published rates for five of our six countries are in our apartment cleaning guide, and the quickest way to a real number is a job post with the room count and extras.
Do cleaners bring their own supplies?
Many do and build it into the price, and some prefer to use yours. Agree it before the first visit, and say if you want particular products.
What is included in a move out clean?
Whatever your lease and your landlord’s checklist require, which usually means inside the oven and refrigerator, cupboards, windows and floors. Book it after the furniture has gone and leave the power and hot water on.
