Hire someone to assemble furniture
Flat pack, beds, wardrobes, desks and outdoor furniture, built properly and anchored where it needs to be. Post the list once and verified local assemblers can answer.
Flat pack is cheap because you are the last step of the factory. That is fine for a bedside table and much less fine for a wardrobe with fourteen panels and a sliding door kit.
The part of assembly that matters most is not speed. It is whether a tall piece is fixed to the wall, because furniture that tips is a real risk in a home with children.
What assemblers on Taskovery do
- Flat pack furniture from any store
- Beds, bunk beds, cots and wardrobes
- Desks, shelving and storage systems
- Outdoor furniture, playsets and trampolines
- Anchoring tall furniture to the wall
- Taking apart furniture for a move, and rebuilding it
What to put in your job post
- Each item, with the store and the product name or model
- How many of each, and which rooms they go in
- Whether you want them anchored to the wall, and what the walls are made of
- Whether you want the packaging taken away
- Stairs, lifts and parking at your building
License rules and checks, by country
Furniture assembly is not a licensed trade in any of the six countries Taskovery covers.
- Everywhere: Ask whether the assembler carries insurance, and agree what happens if a part is missing or a panel is damaged.
- Wall anchoring: Use fixings suited to your wall. The anchors in the box are rarely right for every wall type, and better ones cost very little.
Whatever the rules, look the number up yourself on the regulator’s own site rather than following a link the contractor sends. How to check a license and insurance walks through it.
How pricing works
Assemblers charge per item, per hour, or a fixed price for a list, usually with a minimum charge per visit. Bundling several pieces into one visit is almost always cheaper.
Our guide to the cost of a furniture assembly service has published figures for the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
How it works on Taskovery
- Post the job for free. Say what needs doing, where, and when. Photos help more than anything else.
- Hear from verified contractors. Only contractors whose checks have passed can answer: a government photo ID, plus a business registration for a company or a proof of address for a sole trader. It is not a criminal background check and we do not check insurance, so ask for those yourself when the job calls for them.
- Choose who does it. Compare replies, profiles and past work, and pick the person you want.
- Pay them directly. You agree the price with the contractor and pay them, not us. Customers never pay Taskovery anything.

Questions
Questions people ask about furniture assembly
How much does furniture assembly cost?
Most assemblers charge by the item or the hour, with a minimum per visit. Our furniture assembly guide has published prices for three of our six countries, and a job post with your item list gets you real quotes.
How long does it take to assemble furniture?
A bedside table or a simple desk is usually under an hour, a bed frame or a six-drawer chest an hour or two, and a wardrobe or bunk bed can take most of a morning for one person. List every box in your post so the assembler can quote the right slot.
Can I hire someone just to put flat pack or IKEA furniture together?
Yes. Flat pack from IKEA, Kmart, Wayfair, Amazon or anywhere else is the most common assembly job. Post what you bought and where it is, and verified local assemblers who cover your area reply. Posting is free.
Will the assembler fix furniture to the wall?
Ask for it in your post, because anchoring is often an extra. For anything tall in a home with children, it is the part of the job that matters most.
Can they take the packaging away?
Many will, sometimes for a small extra charge. Say so in the post so it is in the price.
Boxes in the hallway?
