Terms of use
The rules for using Taskovery, in the plainest English we can manage. The short version: we connect you to a contractor, and the job itself is between the two of you.
The short version
Three things carry most of the weight on this page. If you read nothing else, read these.
- Your contract for the work is with your contractor, not with us. We introduce you. They do the job, set the price and stand behind it.
- Read what each check or badge actually covers. Identity and document checks are different from the experience and portfolio review for a Featured partner. Neither is an on-site inspection, insurance or a guarantee of the result of your job.
- You pay the contractor directly for new jobs. Taskovery charges businesses for advertising and does not hold or guarantee job payments. Agree the work, price and payment method in writing.
None of this reduces the rights the law gives you where you live. Consumer law in every country we operate in gives you rights that a document like this one cannot take away, and we are not trying to. If anything here reads as though it takes away such a right, it does not apply to you to that extent, and the rest of the page still stands.
What Taskovery is, and what it is not
Taskovery is the trading name of Trustlane LLC, a limited liability company formed in the State of Montana, United States. The company name has not changed, so you will see both: Taskovery is what the service is called, Trustlane LLC is who you are contracting with. In these terms, “Taskovery”, “we” and “us” mean Trustlane LLC.
Trustlane LLC operates a contractor advertising directory with public business profiles and direct contact. We also provide the account, messaging and partner-support features described on the site. Availability depends on location and suitable contractors.
When you hire a contractor through Taskovery, your contract for that work is with the contractor, not with us. They decide what to charge, when they can come, and how they do the job. We are not a party to it, we do not supervise it, and we do not carry it out.
Read that alongside what we say on Trust & safety, because it is the single most important thing on this page:
- We do not inspect completed jobs or certify workmanship. A portfolio and experience review, where stated on a Featured partner profile, is not an inspection of the work or proof of suitability for every job.
- We do not guarantee outcomes, quality, timing, or price.
- We do not insure your contractor’s work. Taskovery does not hold payments for new jobs or guarantee the work. This does not limit our responsibility for our own services or your statutory remedies.
- We do not employ the contractors. They are independent businesses, and they are not our agents. Nobody on Taskovery can make a promise on our behalf.
What we do claim is narrow and specific, and it is set out under what we check.
What we are responsible for
We are responsible for doing our own job properly. That means running the checks we say we run, with reasonable care and skill, and describing what they found honestly. If we fail to do that and you suffer loss because of it, we are responsible for that, and nothing on this page limits it. That is a different thing from the contractor’s work, which is theirs.

Your account
You need to be 18 or over and in a country we operate in: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.
Keep your sign-in details secure and do not share them. Tell us at help@taskovery.com promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We will assess reports of misuse; you are not automatically responsible for every action taken by someone who accessed your account without permission.
Give us accurate account, phone and location information and keep it current. A country selection or phone country code helps set your service market; it does not determine your legal residence or remove the mandatory rights you have where you actually live or receive services.
One account per person. You can close yours whenever you like from Profile → Settings.
What we check, exactly
Paying for advertising does not mean a business has passed an identity, licence or workmanship check. Read the specific badge and its date on the profile. Some existing job-workspace actions have additional checks, described below.
- Identity, through Stripe. Before a contractor can reply to a job, they set up payouts with Stripe, the payments company that pays them. Stripe checks who they are and the bank account they are paid into, under its own rules and the law where they are. Taskovery does not see or keep their ID document or bank account number. The verified badge appears once Stripe lets their account be paid, and is taken away if Stripe later restricts it. This is a requirement for the existing in-platform job workflow, not a condition of publishing an advertisement.
- Trade licence. A check of a current registration on the relevant register or scheme, where available. Uploading this badge is optional on Taskovery; holding every licence, registration or permit legally required for the actual work is not optional. An absent badge is not confirmation that no licence is needed.
A contractor whose Stripe setup has not passed cannot apply for your job or be awarded one. They can still build a profile, be found and be contacted, so you may meet one who is partway through.
What a badge is, and what it is not
A badge records a check at a point in time. The identity badge reflects what Stripe last told us about the contractor’s payout account; a licence badge records a document we looked at, on a date, and shows that date. Neither says everything is true today.
Gating job applications on these checks is a rule about who may use Taskovery. It is not a recommendation, an endorsement, an approval, or a view about any contractor. Passing the identity check means somebody proved who they are to Stripe. It does not mean we think you should hire them.
Here is the closed list of what we do not check, and we would rather be blunt than let you assume:
- We do not check insurance. We do not require contractors to hold public liability insurance and we do not verify any that they hold. Ask your contractor directly, and ask to see it.
- We do not run criminal record checks on anyone.
- We do not check credit, solvency, or whether a business has debts or judgments against it.
- We do not independently certify workmanship, competence, qualifications or training. A Featured partner review covers the experience, past-work information and customer-care checks stated for that badge, not an inspection or blanket approval of their services.
- We do not check that a licence covers your particular job. A licensed plumber is not necessarily a registered gas fitter. See high-risk work.
- We do not check employees or subcontractors. Our checks are on the person running the profile. If they send somebody else to your home, we have not checked that person at all.
- We do not re-check continuously. A licence can lapse the day after we saw it.
We re-run the licence check periodically and re-date the badge when we do. A badge older than its date is a record, not a promise. Use your own judgement as well, and ask the questions you would ask anyone you found any other way.
If a document a contractor sends us does not check out, they do not get that badge. If we conclude a document was deliberately falsified, we close the account and it stops being visible to customers.
Restricted and high-risk work
Some work is dangerous, and in most of our countries some of it may only be done by somebody holding a specific registration. Gas. Electrical work. Asbestos. Structural work. Work at height. Water and drainage in some places.
Our trade licence badge does not tell you that a contractor is registered for your particular job. It tells you they held a registration we could find on a public register on the date shown. Trades are narrower than they look, and the registration that covers a bathroom refit is not the one that covers moving a gas line.
If your job touches any of the above, ask for the specific registration for that work and confirm it with the relevant local regulator or register. Requirements vary by trade, country, state, province and territory. If the required authorisation cannot be confirmed, do not let the work start.
Contractors: you must hold every licence, registration and permit the law where you work requires for the work you take on, and keep them current. Do not accept work you are not registered to do.
In an emergency
Taskovery is not an emergency service and nobody is watching it around the clock. Do not post a job and wait if somebody is in danger.
If you can smell gas, if there is fire, if water is near electricity, or if anyone is hurt, call your emergency number, which is 911 where you are, and your gas or electricity network operator. Deal with the danger first. Find a contractor afterwards.
Job screening and automated assistance
We use automated tools, including AI, to help draft titles, select trades, estimate job size and screen posts. Understandable, legitimate service requests may be approved automatically. Suspected spam, unsafe or illegal requests, exposed private information and requests that cannot be understood may be held for a person to review. A published job is not confirmation that the work is safe, licensed, legal in every location, or correctly priced.
Check any suggested wording before posting. Estimates are not contractor quotes. Do not put phone numbers, email addresses, identification documents or a precise private address in the public job description. If a post is held, miscategorised or rejected, contact help@taskovery.com for human review. We remain responsible for our own service and legal obligations when using automated tools. Our privacy policy explains personal-data handling.
If you are hiring
Taskovery adds no fee for customers. Posting a job, reading replies, browsing a trade and messaging a contractor are free. When you book, you pay the contractor’s price, with no Taskovery connection fee, service charge or booking commission on new bookings. Agree the total price, taxes, materials and any later changes in writing before authorising the work.
You choose who you hire. We order results, and we tell you when placement has been paid for, but nobody can buy their way into your job.
A Featured partner badge means the contractor is a paid member and our team reviewed their experience, past work and customer care. It is not an inspection of their work, a recommendation for your job or a guarantee, and it does not change their rating, their reviews or the order of results.
Your street address is shared only with the contractor you choose, and only once you have chosen them. Your email address is not handed over. Your phone number is available to the partner you choose, or to a paid member who has answered your job or is in a conversation with you. Blocking prevents that access. Calling a contractor through your phone also uses your ordinary caller-ID settings. See our privacy policy for the details.
Cancelling a job. Agree cancellation and refund terms directly with your contractor. Those terms must comply with applicable law and cannot remove mandatory rights.
If you ask us to find someone for you, for example in a message to our Facebook Page, and you agree, we create a free Taskovery account in your name with the email address or phone number you gave us, post your job to it, and offer it to one verified contractor we choose. You can sign in to follow the job and talk to the contractor, and you can ask us to close the account at any time.
If you are a contractor
You are an independent business. You set your own prices, decide which jobs to take and which to refuse, choose your own hours, use your own tools and materials, and may work for anyone else including our competitors. You are responsible for your own tax, insurance, licensing and compliance with the law. Nothing here makes you our employee, our worker, our agent or our partner in the legal sense, and we do not direct or control how you do a job.
The legal status of a working relationship is determined by the applicable law and what happens in practice, not simply by a label in these terms. Nothing here removes employment or worker rights that the law says apply.
Contractor advertising subscription
New self-service advertising plans are Normal at 24.99/month and Featured Partner at 59.99/month per advertisement, in the partner’s service-country currency. Banner advertising requires contacting Taskovery and agreeing its price and placement terms separately. New plans are billed in USD for the United States, CAD for Canada, GBP for the United Kingdom, EUR for Ireland, AUD for Australia and NZD for New Zealand. These are local prices, not currency conversions. Plans renew automatically monthly until cancelled. Any applicable tax is disclosed at checkout; your bank may charge currency-conversion fees. Featured Partner starts with a payment at checkout. Banner payment terms are agreed separately. Existing subscriptions retain their agreed price and terms unless you expressly change them.
Normal free trial: eligible first-time subscribers receive 14 days free with a payment card required. The first payment amount and renewal date are shown before you subscribe. The subscription automatically charges 24.99/month in the partner’s service-country currency after the trial unless cancelled beforehand. One introductory trial per eligible advertiser; previous subscribers are not entitled to repeated trials. A trial does not guarantee advertisement approval, enquiries or work.
Placement: Normal includes a business listing. Featured Partner includes homepage and search placement above Normal listings, with up to five matching Featured Partner advertisements displayed. Banner advertising, when agreed with Taskovery, includes a carousel below the homepage search and a Normal listing, with up to five matching banners switching every five seconds while visible. Rotation pauses while the page is hidden, outside the viewing area, being interacted with or manually paused. Premium positions are shared with other eligible advertisers matching the visitor’s country, city and trade, not sold as exclusive or permanent positions. Placement applies to eligible, published advertisements matching the visitor’s country, city and trade. Availability and order vary with searches and active advertisers; inclusion in a placement is not a promise that a visitor will view it. There is no guaranteed delivery volume, search-engine ranking, click count, enquiry or job.
Reporting: advertiser reports show observed impressions and profile, call and message clicks. An impression requires at least half the ad to be visible for one second. Repeat interactions are limited within 30-minute windows. These counts are not unique people, completed calls, sent messages or sales. Automated traffic, browser restrictions and network failures may affect reporting. Reports use UTC; the current day is provisional. Advertising is charged by subscription, not per recorded interaction.
The subscription includes one business advertisement, a public profile, work photos, trade and location discovery, a public business phone button and an optional website link. You must complete your profile and explicitly publish your advertisement before it appears in the directory. Paying does not automatically publish an incomplete advertisement or confer a verification badge.
You authorise recurring monthly charges by accepting the subscription terms at checkout. Cancel future renewals through your partner portal under Billing. You can also contact help@taskovery.com for help. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of your paid period. Unpublishing or deleting an advertisement does not by itself cancel the subscription. Mandatory cancellation and refund rights remain unaffected.
Existing subscribers retain their agreed price, discount and billing terms unless they separately agree to change. The previous US$250 membership and US$50 onboarding discount are no longer offered to new subscribers.
Publishing and visibility
You must own or be authorised to represent the business, have permission to use all photos and text, and keep your business details accurate. Your advertisement must concern lawful contractor or local services. Do not post impersonation, misleading qualifications, fabricated reviews, unlawful services or personal information you are not authorised to publish.
Your chosen public phone number, website, business location and profile content can be viewed by anyone and indexed by search engines. Do not enter a private home address or personal number unless you intend to make it public. Search engines and third parties may retain copies after removal. Private billing and account contact details are not automatically published as advertising contacts.
Advertisements appear only while published and the account has current subscription access. Payment failures, cancellation at period end, an account restriction or unpublishing can remove the advertisement from the directory. We may review or remove misleading, unsafe or unlawful content; contact support to challenge a moderation decision.
Advertising is not a guarantee of enquiries, customers, income, placement or search-engine ranking. Directory filters use the business's trade and location information. Matching advertisements are currently ordered by most recently updated. A paid listing is an advertisement, not our endorsement of the contractor or their work.
Getting paid for your work
You agree the job, price, tax, deposits, cancellation terms and payment method directly with your customer. Taskovery does not process or hold new job payments, charge a percentage of your work, or sell connection credits under this advertising plan. You are responsible for invoices and receipts and for complying with local payment and consumer laws.
Payments, cancellation and refunds
Advertising payments and contractor payments are separate. Stripe processes your Taskovery advertising subscription. Job payments are made directly to the contractor. Taskovery cannot release, reverse or refund a payment it did not process.
Agree a clear written scope, total price and payment schedule before starting. Keep invoices and receipts. Discuss job cancellations and refunds directly with the contractor; your mandatory rights against them remain intact. Report misleading advertisements or safety concerns to Taskovery so we can review the listing.
For an advertising subscription refund request, contact support with the relevant receipt. We assess requests under the applicable agreement and mandatory law. Cancelling future renewals does not automatically refund a completed paid period, but this does not remove any statutory cooling-off, refund or other rights.
Direct-payment safety
Direct payment for a job found through the advertising directory is allowed. Check the business identity and payment recipient, get written terms, and keep a receipt. Be cautious about unexpected payment links, pressure to pay or changes to bank details. Taskovery does not offer payment-holding protection or guarantee the work.
Any historical transaction already processed under an earlier Taskovery booking-payment agreement retains its original payment and refund terms. The new advertising model does not rewrite an existing transaction. Contact support if you need its records.
Reviews
A Taskovery completed-job review can only be left by a customer whose job was actually connected and completed through Taskovery. We do not buy reviews, we do not write them, and we do not let anyone pay to have one removed or hidden.
On partner profiles, we do not sort, filter or promote Taskovery completed-job reviews by sentiment. Placement lifts a card in Best match and says so on the card; it does nothing to which reviews are shown or to the rating. Every review a contractor has is shown, good and bad.
We remove a review only where it names somebody who is not party to the job, contains personal information, is abusive or discriminatory, is about a job that did not happen, or was arranged between the two parties. We keep a record of every review we remove and why.
Do not offer anyone anything in exchange for a review, and do not condition anything on a review being positive. If you are a contractor, you may ask a customer to leave a review. You may not ask them to leave a good one.
Google reviews are separate. We may display reviews of a partner’s business supplied by Google Maps on its profile, and aggregate partner review totals in our homepage statistics. These totals include all star ratings and count each linked business once. Google Maps attribution identifies their source. They may describe work arranged outside Taskovery and do not contribute to a Taskovery completed-job rating. Google Maps content is subject to the Google Maps terms and Google Privacy Policy.
Prize draws
Our monthly prize draw closed to new entries on 24 October 2026. Entries made before then are in October 2026’s draw under its official rules, which continue to apply to it. If we run a prize draw again, it will have its own official rules.
House rules
Do not use Taskovery to:
- pretend to be someone you are not, or trade under a name that isn’t yours
- request illegal or unsafe work, or offer or accept work without the licences and permissions the law requires
- harass, threaten, or discriminate against anyone
- write a review of a job that did not happen, arrange reviews between yourselves, or present stock or generated images as proof of your own completed work or identity
- scrape, copy or resell profiles, or automate access to the service
- ask a customer for a deposit or payment before you have given them a price they accepted, or ask them to pay you outside Taskovery for a booking made through it
- use more than one account to get around a limit on your own
Contractors: where you take a deposit after a price is accepted, some places cap what you may ask for on home improvement work, and the cap applies whatever the customer agreed. Know the rule where you work. Say what the deposit is for and what happens to it if the job does not go ahead.
We will never ring, text or email you asking for a payment, a deposit, or your card to “verify your account”. You only ever pay a booking on the payment card in your Taskovery account, on Stripe’s checkout page. If anyone asks you to pay another way, it is not us. Report it to help@taskovery.com.
Suspending or closing an account
We may restrict a post or account for a material breach, a credible safety or fraud concern, or a legal requirement. Our response must be proportionate to the issue, and required notices and appeal rights still apply. Contact help@taskovery.com to ask a person to review a decision.
If you are a contractor, being removed costs you work, so we do not do it silently. We tell you what the problem is and give you a reason in writing. Except where we are acting on an immediate risk to somebody’s safety, a legal obligation, or a rule you have broken repeatedly after being told, we give you notice before your account is closed and a chance to put it right or explain. If we suspend you and then conclude we were wrong, we put you back.
Where someone is at risk, we act first and explain afterwards.
You can close your account at any time. This can close requests or change job statuses on Taskovery, but does not by itself cancel a separate contract for work or release either party from its lawful obligations. Agree next steps with the other party and keep any records you need before closing the account.
Your rights, and the limits of ours
Your consumer rights come first
The consumer law where you live gives you rights that nothing on this page reduces. That is true in every country we operate in, and in several of them a business is not permitted even to suggest otherwise. So, plainly: nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right, guarantee or remedy the law gives you and does not let us contract out of. To the extent anything here would, it does not apply to you.
Your rights against your contractor apply to their work regardless of how you paid, and are not affected by anything we do or do not do. Where the trade is licensed or registered where you live, the body that registers them is a route open to you as well.
What we do not limit, at all
We do not exclude or limit our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not permit us to limit. That is true everywhere on this page, including in the list immediately below.
Where we are not responsible
Subject to both paragraphs above, and because we are a connection service rather than a party to the job:
- we are not responsible for the work a contractor does, the price they charge, or whether they turn up, though we do refund a paid booking as described under paying and refunds
- we are not responsible for the conduct of a contractor or a customer towards each other, except where our own negligence caused the harm
- we are not responsible for what a user writes, including in a review or a message, beyond acting on it when it is reported to us
- we do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free
If you use Taskovery for a business, then to the extent the law allows us to limit it, our total responsibility to you for everything connected with Taskovery in any twelve month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and US$500. We are not responsible to a business user for lost profit, lost business or lost opportunity.
We do not apply that cap to a consumer. The cap and exclusions also do not override protections that apply to business purchasers, including applicable small-business unfair-contract-term rules, consumer guarantees or liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Our responsibility for our own services and the express promises we make is not erased by calling Taskovery a marketplace.
If something goes wrong
Contact us for help. Email help@taskovery.com with the job or payment reference and what went wrong. We will review the complaint during our working hours. Contacting us is not a condition for using a statutory remedy, going to a regulator or court, or raising a valid payment dispute.
If your problem is with the work itself, it is between you and your contractor, and your consumer rights apply. You can request relevant records we hold about your job to help resolve it, including agreed-price information and your messages where available. Disclosure remains subject to identity checks, other people’s privacy, lawful retention and any legal restrictions.
If the two of you cannot agree, the usual next step is the small claims process where you live, which in most of our countries does not need a lawyer. Where the trade is licensed or registered, a complaint to the body that registers them is open to you too.
If your problem is with us, and we cannot resolve it between us, you keep every right to take it further, and you do not need our permission. The consumer regulator for your country is independent of us and free to complain to: in the United States your state attorney general’s consumer protection office or the Federal Trade Commission, in Canada your provincial consumer affairs office, in the United Kingdom Trading Standards through the Citizens Advice consumer service, in Ireland the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, in Australia the ACCC or your state fair trading office, and in New Zealand the Commerce Commission.
We do not ask you to give up your right to go to court, and we do not require arbitration. We do not stop you joining others in a claim.
Mandatory local protections
These terms do not displace the Australian Consumer Law, New Zealand’s Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act, applicable UK and Irish consumer protections, or the federal, state, provincial and territorial protections that apply in the US and Canada. Which rights apply depends on the transaction and your circumstances, not only the country selected in the app. You retain any mandatory rights about contract language, information before purchase, automatic renewal, cancellation, fair terms, privacy and access to local courts or regulators.
Our name and this site
Taskovery, the wordmark, the apps and this site are ours. What you write stays yours: you keep ownership of your profile text, photos, job posts, messages and reviews, and you give us permission to display them where the service needs to, for as long as your account is open. Where a review or a job record has to outlive the account for the service to make sense, we say so in the privacy policy.
Only upload material you own or have permission to use, including permission to show identifiable people or private properties where required. Do not upload someone else’s private documents to a public profile. Our permission to use your content is limited to operating and presenting the service as described in the privacy policy; these terms are not blanket permission to use private messages or identification documents in advertising.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you we will tell you before it takes effect, not after. If you are a contractor we will give you at least 15 days’ notice of a change, unless we have to move faster to meet a legal obligation. We will allow any longer notice or explicit agreement required by applicable law. Changes do not retrospectively alter an agreed charge, remove an accrued claim or reduce a guarantee already promised. Continued use does not replace express consent where the law requires it. Subject to those limits, continued use after a notified change takes effect means the updated terms apply. If you would rather not accept them, you can close your account, and if you are on a paid plan you can cancel without penalty.
Which law applies, and where you can bring a claim
This depends on where you are, because the law in several of our countries does not let a business move a consumer somewhere else to argue with them, and we are not going to try.
- If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom: the law of the part of the UK where you live applies, and you can bring proceedings in the courts there.
- If you are a consumer in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand or Canada: the law of the country, and the state, province or territory where you live applies, and you can bring proceedings in the courts there.
- If you are a consumer in the United States: the law of the State of Montana applies and the courts of Montana have jurisdiction, except where the law of the state you live in gives you a right to bring your claim at home, in which case it does.
- If you use Taskovery for a business, anywhere: the law of the State of Montana applies, and the courts of Montana have non-exclusive jurisdiction, which means we can be sued there and it does not stop a court where you are from hearing a claim it decides it should hear.
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still stands.
The general bits
We may transfer these terms to another company if the business is sold or reorganised, and your rights are not reduced by that. You may not transfer your account to somebody else.
If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
If an event outside our reasonable control disrupts the service, we will take reasonable steps to reduce its impact and explain significant interruptions. This does not excuse a failure to take reasonable care or remove any applicable right to cancel, obtain a refund, or claim another statutory remedy.
Notices to us go to help@taskovery.com. Notices to you go to the email address on your account, so keep it current.
These terms, the privacy policy, and the applicable rules of a specific promotion describe our agreement about Taskovery. They do not exclude information, statements or promises that applicable law makes binding, or the rights arising from a misleading statement.
Anything here you want explained
Email help@taskovery.com. We would rather explain it than have you guess.
